Tahura Area Use Policy

Abstract

This study analyzes the utilization policy of BJ Habibie Forest Park (Tahura BJ Habibie)      with a focus on natural resource management, ecosystem sustainability, and its impact on the welfare of the surrounding communities. The research employs literature studies and direct observations to gather data on policy implementation, challenges faced, and the social and environmental effects of the park’s utilization. The findings reveal that the utilization policy of Tahura BJ Habibie holds significant potential for supporting ecosystem conservation but faces several challenges, including weak oversight of activities within the area, limited funding to support management efforts, and low local community participation in maintaining the area's sustainability. Socially, these policies often restrict community access to the area, potentially affecting their livelihoods and welfare. Environmentally, threats to ecosystems such as deforestation and uncontrolled human activities remain serious challenges. To address these issues, the study recommends enhancing collaboration among government agencies, conservation organizations, and local communities to create synergy in managing the area. Furthermore, strengthening management capacities through adequate funding, improving human resource skills, and actively involving the community should be top priorities. This approach aims to ensure ecosystem sustainability, support conservation efforts, and provide economic and social benefits to nearby communities. With better policy implementation, Tahura BJ Habibie can serve as a model for effective and sustainable conservation area management.
